Stateside entertainer Pat Finn, who featured in iconic television series like Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away at the age of 60.

The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in LA recently having undergone treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, per media reports.

"Pat considered no one a stranger - only friends he didn't know yet," his family stated in a announcement.

They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".

An Extensive TV Career

Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the brother of the main character.

He was also seen in a regular part on "Murphy Brown" between 1995 and 1997.

He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, playing a party host famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.

During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous popular shows, including:

  • "King of Queens"
  • "Friends"
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House

His most famous role for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons from 2011 to 2018.

His film credits encompass "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

A Life in Improv

Away from his acting parts, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was a member of a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils throughout the years and it's nearly impossible to find anyone anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.

In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind noted there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," he posted publicly.

Finn is leaves behind his spouse Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
