Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a large-scale and continuing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any impact is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their air space.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas associated with the the regime, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported debris landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
