The ex-lawyer for the former president has resigned as the US Attorney for New Jersey. This follows a court battle that challenged her right to serve.
Official Departure
US Attorney General, the Attorney General, confirmed Habba's resignation on the start of the week. In a statement that the appeals court finding made it "untenable" for Habba to effectively run her office.
"Do not interpret following the order as giving up," she declared. "The effort will now stretch across the nation."

The 41-year-old attorney, first joined Donald Trump's lawyers in 2021. Subsequently, she acted for the former president in his hush-money trial in 2024, which resulted in his guilty verdict on dozens of charges of document fraud.
Earlier, assuming the federal prosecutor position, the former president had stated he was naming her as his presidential counsellor during his second administration, describing the lawyer as "unwavering in her loyalty" and a "tireless advocate for justice".
