The both teams have a historical link, also competing in Forest's previous European adventure in the UEFA Cup of 1995-96, but it is the European Cup final 46 years ago that connects these teams, with the groundbreaking transfer Francis scoring the winner of a rather dull championship game to secure historic victory for the the English club.

It's also interesting to consider Malmö, who became the pioneering and only Swedish club to make the championship match under English manager Bob Houghton.
Tonight's game is a very different to that pinnacle, closer perhaps to the earlier European encounter between Forest and Malmö in that era. Forest are riding high after beating Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield on Saturday, while Malmö have been inactive since 9 November following the end of the Swedish league season. The general expectation is on the Forest tonight.
