R360 League Players Subject to 10-Season Exclusion from Australia's Rugby League
The athlete won 20 test matches for the All Blacks before transferring loyalty to the Samoan team.
The NRL's administration has stated that participants who sign with the “counterfeit” R360 will be prohibited for 10 seasons.
The new league, scheduled to begin in late 2026, is hoping to draw rugby union and rugby league players with hefty contracts and a slimmed-down fixture list.
Top rugby league athletes have reportedly received offers by R360, which will include multiple men's sides and four women's teams operating from large metropolitan areas globally.
Representing Samoa the rugby star, who represents his NRL club in the competition, has stated he has had talks with the breakaway league.
Ryan Papenhuyzen, Lomax, Payne Haas and Gray are also said to be thinking about signing the new competition.
Eight major union countries, including Australia, recently imposed a restriction on athletes signing with R360 playing global fixtures.
“We have consulted our franchises and we've responded strongly,” commented ARLC head Peter V'Landys.
“Unfortunately, there will continually be entities that seek to pirate our code for monetary profit.
“They don't invest in development systems or the growth of players. They merely capitalize on the efforts of other organizations, putting players at risk of financial loss while benefiting financially.
“Essentially, they are, imitating the sport.”
The organization is co-founded by ex-England star Tindall and funded by independent financiers.
After the potential union bans were announced earlier, it stated: “We seek to cooperate in partnership as part of the international rugby schedule.
“The event is structured with customized calendars for both genders and we will release all players for international matches, as included in their deals.”
R360 will seek approval for its initiatives from rugby union's governing body, the sport's governing body, at its official gathering next year.
