Seamer Atkinson Adds to the English team's Injury Concerns.

'Significant concern' for the English camp as Atkinson is forced off with a hamstring injury.

The English seamer added to the fitness woes of the England squad upon exiting the field early on day two of the Boxing Day Test in the Ashes series.

The right-arm seamer pulled up with his hamstring immediately following a delivery in his spell at the MCG.

The England team stated Atkinson felt some "soreness" and required time off the field in order to be assessed "over the next few hours".

The final Test of the tour beginning on 4 January starts this coming Sunday.

The English side has already lost fast bowlers Mark Wood with a knee problem and Jofra Archer with an abdominal strain during this series.

Matthew Fisher was brought into the squad as cover for Wood.

The seamer had a tough time early in the series, taking just three wickets.

He was left out from the previous Test, only to be brought back for the Melbourne Test to fill the void.

The county bowler showed better form in Melbourne, bagging two scalps in Australia's first innings, and scoring 28 runs as a batsman among just a trio of teammates to get into double digits.

Following a brief spell late on the first day, he resumed for the second day's play and removed Scott Boland Scott Boland caught behind.

Yet, on the final ball of that over, he delivered a variation to the batsman and suddenly grabbed at his leg.

Atkinson was recalled for the Boxing Day Test having missed the Adelaide game.
