The Porcine Pardon: Pig Named 6-7 Spared by Miami Dade County Mayor.
It might not have been at the same level as pardoning festive fowl, but the county's top official had her own Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a swine named Six Seven.
Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.
“This animal is guiltless. She is worthy of this pardon. No offenses are on her docket,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with clear references to the sheer volume of pardons issued since the onset of a current administration.
“Except perhaps for eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” the mayor added. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence away from worry.”
The gathering, which both honors and questions the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was created to replicate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.
The swine, provided by a Coral Gables firefighter, was named for the current slang trend of young people shouting “6-7” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often for no discernable reason. The craze became so ubiquitous that a prominent word reference recently made “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.
A Future Secured
Six Seven the pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a farm sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the organizers' announcement.
“The annual pig pardon has become a cherished method to open the festive period,” said the event host, in a particularly upbeat message.
“It embodies the essence of Miami: happy, diverse, and based in heritage that bring people together. Every time, we are honored to observe culture and compassion in a way distinctively Miamian.”
Participants enjoyed a meat-free selection of croquettes and Cuban coffee as they celebrated the pig's pardon.
