The visionary game developer, who helped create the wildly popular franchise Call of Duty, has tragically died in a traffic collision in Los Angeles, California aged 55.

Zampella's death was confirmed by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, the development studio that he helped create.

The renowned game designer passed away following his vehicle was involved in a crash and burst into flames on a freeway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday morning, as reported by.

"This represents an unimaginable loss, and our deepest sympathies go to Vince's family, those closest to him, and all those touched by his legacy," a representative from Electronic Arts commented.
